When you are traveling with kids, a good night of sleep can make all the difference. It also helps if it is a kid-friendly hotel and has facilities to keep children engaged. Our stay with Stirrups Hotel in Bracknell near Windsor during our Windsor trip was nothing less than amazing.

Stirrups Hotel

Located close to both Windsor Castle and Legoland, this family-run hotel is an ideal place to stay with family. Stirrups hotel has 46 bedrooms and is set within 10 acres of tranquil Berkshire countryside between Windsor, Ascot & Bracknell. Designed as a home away from home, Stirrups Hotel also proves to be the perfect base while visiting Legoland with kids.

We reached the Stirrups hotel in the evening after our wonderful day at Windsor. We had a busy day starting with the river cruise with French Brothers on the Thames and visiting the Windsor Castle. After lunch at Giggling Squid Windsor, we took the Hop-on Hop-Off Bus Tour of Windsor and Eton before spending some time in the Windsor Great Park. Once our hearts had its fill, we drove through lush British countryside to Bracknell. The hotel is set away from the hustle and bustle and that adds to its charm.

Stirrups hotel with it’s Tudor styled appearance appealed to me right away but my son was happier seeing the 10 acres of lush gardens. We were warmly welcomed by the General Manager Jason McKelvie and it was a true pleasure talking to him about the property. He was very gracious and escorted us to our room.

We were booked in the family room with beautiful views of the surrounding gardens. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a large bathroom. It was a cozy space with contemporary amenities enhancing the traditional aura through the use of natural woods and pastel colors. My son was delighted to find a goodie bag filled with coloring books and some crayons in the room.

Our evening was a quiet one and we had an early dinner. The food was great and the ambiance was very relaxed. I loved how cozy the dining room and the bar were and the decor seemed to be out from an 18th-century mansion.

The hotel seems to be very popular with the locals and there was a party going on till late at night. However, the soundproofing of the room was really good and we weren’t disturbed by the music and festivities. The beds were really comfy and we retired early as we had a busy day planned at Legoland the next day.

The next day, we decided to take a walk, first thing in the morning. The lush green gardens are beautiful and are quite expansive for kids to run around freely. They also have frisbees, balls, golf sets and bowling pins for kids to enjoy some activities. My son loved the fish pond and we enjoyed taking pictures at the Instagram worthy spots.

Breakfast at Stirrups Hotel is served as a buffet and ala carte. The buffet spread is nice with a great selection of continental food. We had a sumptuous English breakfast and a gluten-free breakfast which was very well cooked. The staff was really helpful and they cooked something out of the menu for my little one. Their warm hospitality and service definitely accentuated our experience.

Our overall stay at Stirrups Hotel was fantastic and I would highly recommend this hotel if you are in or around Windsor with family. We will definitely return.
